Cancellation policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026
Draft. This is a first, plain-language pass written by the Home Sublet team. It will be replaced by a legally reviewed version before launch. Nothing here is legal advice. Translation, for convenience. The Hebrew version is the binding one. This translation is for understanding only, and where the two differ the Hebrew prevails.

In short

  • Full refund up to 14 days before move-in.
  • 50% refund from 14 days until 48 hours before move-in.
  • Within 48 hours, no refund.
  • Cash is settled directly with the host. Home Sublet never moves money.

Why it works this way

Hosts block the dates the moment they accept a booking. Cancelling inside the window means they've turned down other requests in the meantime. The 14-day and 48-hour tiers exist to keep the cost proportionate, rather than all-or-nothing.

The reality of cash

Home Sublet doesn't process payments yet, so a “refund” is a shared expectation between the two sides, not a button we press. The calculator on the cancellation page shows what the renter owes the host as of today. Both sides see the same number, and we record the calculation in our log, so it never comes down to one person's word against another's. When Home Sublet does start moving money, this policy will enforce refunds automatically.

When the host cancels

A host who cancels an accepted booking owes the renter a genuine effort to find an alternative, plus direct costs (a first night's accommodation, a taxi from the airport). Repeated host cancellations can get a listing removed.

Disputes about cancellations

Either side can open a dispute if they think the policy's outcome doesn't fit their particular case. Someone from the Home Sublet team reads both sides within one business day.
